How to use the Tashkent Metro: a step-by-step guide

1. Plan the complete route before entering

Choose your starting and destination stations before you pass the gates. In Metrio, select both stations to see the line sequence, transfer points and stop-by-stop route. Take a moment to memorize the first line and its direction.

If your destination is not beside a station, also check the walking route from the final exit. Knowing the street or landmark you need is more useful than simply arriving at the correct platform.

2. Pay and pass through the gates

Payment methods and fares can change, so check the current official information before your trip. Electronic transport cards and supported contactless methods are commonly used, while one-time options may be available at stations. Keep your payment method ready and follow the instructions displayed at the gate.

Do not rely on a price copied from an old travel post. Official notices are the right source for current fares, concessions and payment rules.

3. Choose the correct direction

Platforms are identified by the direction of travel, often using the terminal station on that branch. Find your line on the map, follow it past your current station and note the terminal in the direction of your destination. Compare that name with the signs before boarding.

If you are unsure, count two or three upcoming stations from the route. The next station display or announcement will quickly confirm whether the train is moving the right way.

4. Make transfers without rushing

Leave the train at the interchange named in your route and follow signs for the next line. A transfer can involve corridors, stairs or escalators, so allow time and keep to the flow of passengers. Before boarding again, confirm the new line and terminal direction.

5. Exit toward the destination

After the final stop, follow exit signs and look for the street, landmark or side of the road closest to your destination. Large stations may have several exits. If you cannot confirm the best one underground, reach street level and use a walking map from there.
